Flower girl - bloemenmeisje

Ik ben een fan van Annejulie's werk,
ik geloof dat Maia haar model is voor veel van haar prachtige tekeningen ;-)

Ik hou van het melancholische in haar werk . Haar werk is zo mooi , alhoewel haar figuren dikwijls een droevig gezicht hebben en de tekeningen dikwijls donker zijn .

Ik herken Maia daar in, alhoewel ze een vrolijk en speels meisje is, heeft ze ook iets melancholisch over haar. Ik gaf haar een spiegeltje van Annejulie, als ze soms droevig is kan ze in haar spiegeltje kijken en zien hoe mooi en de moeite waard ze is. Je ziet van hier hoeveel ik van deze dochter hou en van de moeder die dit meisje op de wereld zette.

Il y a que mes personnages ont des mines tristes, mélancoliques à souhait et que l’univers de mes images est souvent sombre et étrange.. Dernièrement certaines personnes m’ont demandé “Mais pourquoi tu ne fais pas des filles au visage plus souriant?”= “Pourquoi tu dessines toujours des filles tristes?” ou encore “tu dessines toujours la même chose” (ouch mon coeur pour cette phrase là), pour moi la raison qui est évidente c’est que je dessine ce que je suis à l’intérieur. Alors pour ceux qui voudraient voir autre chose, je pense qu’il ne faut pas s’attendre à voir autre chose justement. Je ne pense pas être une fille chiante à mourir (excusez l’expression), je suis juste une fille mélancolique. J’adore donner et partager, des images, des émotions, ce que je peux offrir

I believe, my daughter Maia, is a model for her work ;-)

I love the Melancholic drawings and although her characters have often a sad face and the images are often dark, I like her work so much.

Maybe because I find my daughter in it, although Maia is a very joyfull girl, she has also something melancholic in her eyes and her ways. I gave her a little pocket mirror of Annejulie,

and said to her she could always look in the mirror, also in times she's desperate, then she'll she how beautifull and worthwile she is! You can guess how much I love this little daughter, and how much my love goes to the mother who gave birth to this child.

Annejulie about her work:

"Thing is that my characters have a sad face, often melancholic and most of my images are dark and strange .. Recently some people asked me “But why do you not draw girls with happy faces?” = “Why do you always draw sad girls?” or “you always draw the same thing” (let me say my heart has gone very sad reading this), for me the reason is obvious: I draw what I am inside. So for those who would like to see something else, I think that they should NOT expect to see something else. I do not think that I am a bloody boring girl (at least I hope so), I’m just a melancholy girl. I love to give, I love to share, images, emotions, everything I can offer."

Een dag bestaat uit veel te weinig uren, er ligt nog zoveel op mij te wachten: stofjes, kraaltjes, koperdraad, strengen wol om te vilten, 'de Morgen' van vorig weekend ,

er zit zo veel in mijn hoofd en ik kan het er maar mondjesmaat uithalen :-(

De collages hierboven (of noem ik ze knipsels) zijn al van een tijdje terug, het wordt een set van 5. Mijn teepotten zijn blijkbaar nooit verweg. Ik kom tegenwoordig al helemaal niet toe aan het lezen van een goed boek, maar heb toch een leuke bladwijzer gemaakt. (met zelfgedraaide vilten bolletjes).

There should be more hours in a day! So much materiuals are waiting for me: vintage fabrics, beads, wool to felt, copper thread, the newspaer of last weekend has to be read...

De collages (or do I call them cut-outs) are work of the past month, i intend to make a set of 5.

I also can't manage to read a good book, but i did make a gorgeous bookmark! (see pictures above).

De 4 mooiste kunstwerkjes die ik ooit gemaakt heb , poseren hier op een bankje in de Dierentuin van Rotterdam. Eigenlijk zijn ze ook nog 'under construction' want er is werk aan, dat geef ik jullie op een blaadje. Twee ervan zijn 'eigen maak', de twee donkerste zijn geïmporteerd.

These are the most beautifull pieces of art I ever made, two of them are 'selfmade' the two eldest are 'imported'. These pieces are still 'under construction', I can assure you , I have a lot of work with them. The photo is taken on a gorgeous day at the Zoo in Rotterdam.

Goh, niet veel tijd gehad om te posten,

veel te mooi weer en wat uitjes waarvan verslag later deze week

Toch nog tijd gehad voor een leuk oorhanger-ontwerpje,

Soms moet ik mezelf dwingen om assymetrisch te gaan werken, vooral in halssnoeren, maar hier ging het vanzelf, ik vraag me alleen af of iemand dit zou kopen en dragen?

Het halssnoer maakte ik met de zijden kralen uit de workshop van sjamma:

Ididn't have much timt this weekend to post, it was such a beautifull weather, and we had a lot of dates. I still had the time to make these earrings, they are assymetrical, I like them so much, but I wonder if somebody would wear (and buy) assymetric earrings?

The necklace above is made with the silk beads I learned to made in a workshop at sjamma;

Werk aan de winkel, en t'is weeral laat,

ik verkocht zonet mijn tee- en koffiepotkaartjes en kreeg een bestelling om er nog 5 bij te maken, morgen moeten ze op de post naar Mineapolis om voor moederdag te arriveren.

dat wordt avondwerk, en dan maar kalmerende tee moeten drinken om in slaap te geraken ;-)

I've got work to do, and it 's late!

I just sold my coffee and teapotcards and have an order to make 5 more, they have to be shipped to minneapolis tomorrow, to arrive in time for Mothers Day. So I will be working late and then drinking tea to calm down of stressing! ;-)

Tweetie tea

Eergisteren ging dit pakketje de deur uit, ik beloofde de 6 eerste kopers in mijn shop een surprise-pakket, toch wel eentje om naar uit te kijken, denk ik.

Bovenop één van mijn kaartjes die ik binnenkort ook in mijn shop aanbied. Thee- enkoffiepotten zijn al een tijdje mijn ding, ongelofelijk in hoeveel vormen en maten ze bestaan, ik teken de silhouetten en knip de vorm uit , uit oud behangpapier, japans origamipapier, vintage tafelkleedpapier of andere papiertjes die ik al jaren verzamel.

Ik heb zo ooit uit New York een hele stapel Chinese kranten meegebracht.

Die liggen nu geduldig te wachten op zolder.

Two days ago, I posted this package. I promised the 6 first costumers in my shop a nice surprice! Well, you see it on the photo! I like making packages and even when I do that I am busy matching colors. On top of this surprise package, another creation of mine: a litlle card with teapots. I do like tea and coffeepots and it's amazing in how many forms and colors they exist. I draw the pots and then cut them out, I use Vintage wallpapers, japanese origami-papers, and all sort of papers I am collecting now for years. Once I came back from New York with a pile of chinese newspapers, Now they lay waiting for me and my scissors on my attic!
