Little bits of Lille

A few days ago, we went to Lille, dropping the two little kids with my mothers at Courtrai and a quarter later we were in Lille.
The weather was so summery, we got the feeling of visiting a town in the South of France (but we were in the very nord! ! Sometimes we had a little bit the feeling we were in Paris!

I bought some gorgeous felt at euphémy; and beautifull japanese paper at L'atelier de la sorcière verte, where you can find a lot of supplies for bookbinding, also work of french Illustrators and the beautifull paper-jewelry of Ana Hagopian.

I bought original carved buttons, made of Corozo (a nut of a 5 to 6 meters tall palm tree (Phitelephas Macrocarpas) that grows throughout the humid tropical forest of northwest South America.) also called vegetable Ivory! ( could'nt wait to make a ring with it, when I came home). We enjoyed a glass of cider on a cosy terrace while chatting with an charming inhabitant about Jaques Brel :-)))

I bought handmade 'porridge' soap at Lush, I could not resist, it smelled so yummie!

We visited ZHù YÌ ! an exposition of Chinese Contempory Photography, the pictures reflect the vision of young Chinese artists who are living in a new era of economic prosperity.

Of course we discovered also yummie bars and restaurants as you can see on the pictures!

Lazy Sunday?

Het werd dit weekend een echt klusjesweekend, onder andere een hokje voor de cavias en nieuwe schappen in de berging, vooral veel werk voor papa dus. Zelf had ik nog even de tijd om een halssnoer te maken in mijn 'Lunabloom' reeks en heel leuk om te merken dat die een paar uur later al verkocht was in mijn shop! Morgen vertrekt die naar een lieve dame in Engeland die bovendien nog een vilten broche bestelde voor op haar winterjas!

Naar jaarlijkse traditie vertrokken we zondag naar een leuke tuinparty voor Sandra's verjaardag, een vriendin van op de schoolbanken op Sint Lucas. Wel, tuin zat er niet zo in, wegens het slechte weer, maar het was weer leuk om een aantal 'school'vrienden en andere terug te zien (allemaal weer een jaartje ouder...)

en te genieten van Sandra's decoratietalent. (Sandra is een getalenteerde Fotografe en dit zie je hier!) mmmmm, een buffet met overheerlijke taarten en daarna tapenades en kazen en overheerlijk brood gebakken door een vriend, van deze B&B. (een aanrader voor een rustig weekendje weg in de Westhoek).

Nog een klein weekje en we halen de twee oudste op, op kamp en dan eindelijk samen op reis!

We had a lot of work to do, this weekend, making a little house for the guinees pigs, making stores in our workroom. Well ,that was hubbys part! I managed to make a new necklace in my 'lunabloom' series, and oh, lucky me, I just listed it in my shop and a few hours later it sold!

Tomorrow it wil be shipped to a lovely lady from the United Kingdom. She also ordered a brooch for her winter jacket!!

On sunday wa went to the yearly birthday party of a dear friend, Sandra ( she is a talented photographer) It is always nice to meet my old friends of the art school. Sandra served us yummie cakes and after that a gorgeous selection of cheese and bread bakes by a friend (the owner of this B&B) if you visit Belgium, a nice place to stay!

Summer Challenge

Een nieuwe creatieve uitdaging, deze week, dit keer met het thema 'zomer'.
Initiatiefneemster is dit keer Nanouke van het European Street Team


Nanouke is een Portugese juweelkunstenares: ze haakt juweeltjes met silverdraad en pareltjes, neem gerust een kijkje in haar prachtig winkeltje!

Niet moeilijk om zomers te gaan ontwerpen met dit prachtige Zuiderse weer van de laatste dagen. Ik liet me dan ook inspireren door plaatsjes waar ik 15! jaar geleden ben geweest, in Kreta, Turkije en Spanje.

Not difficult to have a summery feeling with the past hot days,
so I made these earrings and necklace inspired by places I visited 15! years ago:
Chrete, Turkye and Spain.

supply shopping

Gisteren vlogen de oorbellen de deur uit in mijn shopje, en dat in een 'low-sales' tijd :

(iedereen is op vakantie, teveel geld uitgegeven op verlof,...) Dat belooft voor de eindejaarsperiode!! :-))

Leuk, dit motiveert om verder te gaan ontwerpen. Daarom heb ik meteen wat supply-shopping gedaan. Met de yummie 'findings' hierboven kan ik binnenkort aan de slag, joepie!

Yesterday it was busy in my shop, I sold a lot of earrings and two necklaces,

well, I thought sales were down in July, nope!!!!

I went right away for supply shopping , can't wait to create with the yummie supplies in the pictures above!!

Mooi weer vandaag

Intussen weeral een weekje geleden: Rollebolle, het speelplein hier in laarne waar onze 4 kids het ongeloofelijk naar hun zin hadden. Een speciale vermelding hier op mijn blog voor deze jongeren die tijdens hun zomervakantie hun tijd en energie spenderen aan ons en andermans jonge grut. Dit jaar had de leiding een speciale inclusie-cursus gevolgd om een aantal kinderen met een handicap de kans te geven ook mee te spelen op het speelplein. Tijdens die weken is Miesje niet op therapie geweest, maar ik vermoed dat ze op Rollebolle zoveel opgestoken heeft, dat ze er uren therapie zou voor moeten volgen! Na 4 weken waren onze 2 kleintjes wel stikkapot, maar ongelofelijk voldaan. De twee grote zussen zijn momenteel ook nog aan het afkicken (maar geen nood: KSJ kamp komt eraan!)

Rollebolle is voorbijgevlogen: allemaal weer een beetje groter, allemaal weer een beetje gegroeid!

Good vibes at Rollebolle!

It is a week ago already, that our kids went to the playgarden Rollebolle. I am amazed that so much young people spend their free time and energy on our little kids and the kids of others.

This year they had a special course about how to cope with and how to include children with handicap, and they succeed very well. Our little girl Mies was so enthousiastic every day, I think she learned more playing at Rollebolle then the therapy she gets normally 2 times a week.

Rollebolle time is over for this year and you bet: the little ones are again a bit more grown-up!

Well, I think my creative drifts will slow down this week, my fabulous four are all at home now, the Rollebolle Playground is closed this week. They had such a wonderfull time there,

Mies (with Downsyndrome) was integrated so good. I appreciate so much the way they coped with her handicap, can't express how thankfull I am...

But here I am, playing knight with the youngest, painting with Mies, cooking lunch, doing a hug pile of ironing, and gathering the tennisballs Maia and meron left in the grass...

Still, I will spare some time for the next EST-challenge: make a creation with the theme 'summer'! (while serving myself an iced glass of rose)....

pouches with a little help

Finally a new package for my necklaces: pouches. I used linen of old tableclothes and a fabric hydrangea flower in the colors of my shop! I am not that good in stitching, but with a little help of my mother...

One is already on his way to australia!(Whit a necklace in, of course)
