Christmas Shopping and Pimping

Sineterklaas is pas gepasseerd en de kerstlichtjes mogen van zolder gehaald worden.

Ben eigenlijk op zoek naar een leuk zelfmaak-kerstboom idee, maar voorlopig nog niet veel tijd om mij daarop te concentreren. Pamela Angus en Matchtstickgirl hebben alvast leuke versierideetjes!!

Eerst nog twee kerstbeurzen,

eentje in Laarne bij OXFAM WERELDWINKEL. (Waar ik als vrijwilliger insta voor aankoop vanhet artisanaat) Gisteren trotseerde ik weer en wind om een hele voorraad artisanaat te gaan uitkiezen voor de GESCHENKENBEURS. Nu nog wat avondjes spenderen aan het prijzen van de teepotten, houten speelgoed , juweeltjes en ander moois van FAIR TRADE makelij. Shoppen hier, betekent altijd een beetje de wereld verbeteren!

Zaterdag 13 dec , van 10 to 18 uur in de Vrije basischool Laarne, wegvoeringsstraat.

Op 13 en 14 december opendeurt ook KARWIJ (van 10 tot 18 uur), naast de mooie keramissche gebruiksvoorwerpen en juweeltjes van Pascale en de bloemstukken en kerstschikkingen van Nicole, vindt je er een collectie handgemaakte kaartjes van mezelf :-)))

En op 20 december vindt je Fleurfatale in Destelbergen

bij Kerameion , een kersthappening georganiseerd door Keramiste Sylvie Ingels.

Naast mijn winkeltje vind je er een collectie vilten sjaals van Mieke Coppens , gebruiks en decoratievoorwerpen in keramiek van Sylvie Ingels en Lieve Demasieres , kinderspulletjes van Oscar en Lolita, een kaarsencollectie van het Kaarsenhof en winteraccessoires in fleece van Hilde en Marleen Martens... (met gratis kindergrime en voor elke bezoeker iets lekkers...)

Sinterklaas has paid us a visit last week, so now time to start thinking about the Christmas Pimping! Pamela Angus and Matchstickgirl (My european streetteam friends)have already decorated their house ! and the result very beautiful and original!

But first I have to get some work done for The OXFAM FAIR TRADE - FAIR in my town, I am responsible (volunteer) for the purchase of the ARtisanal fair trade stuff (non-food) . Yesterday I drove all the way to Brussels to choose the collection for the fair. Now I have to spend some evenings to put the price on all these goodies!

Also on saturday is an Open day at the shop of a friend, she sells handmade ceramics and flowerpieces created by her sister, and..... some cards of my hand and my Paperbead necklaces!

I like working with real seeds and seed pods lately (as the creations in the first three pics)and combine them with glass beads and semi-precious stones. They mtch perfect with antiqued copper and oxidized silver. I like the natural look and feeling!

Como agua para chocolate

The new Theme of the EST challenge is let you inspire by your favorite book,

this topic was chosen by Bee of Bonnieboon, go check her gorgeous shop!.

Well, my all time favorite is Como Agua para Chocolate of Mexican novelist Laura Esquival: , it's translated as: Like water for chocolate.

The novel follows the story of a young girl named Tita who longs her entire life for her lover, Pedro, but can never have him because of her domineering mother's traditional belief that the youngest daughter must not marry but take care of her mother until the day she dies.

Tita is only able to express her passions and feelings through her cooking, which causes the people who taste it to experience what she feels.

I am a big fan of magical realism which is typical for this novel.

Magic realism, or magical realism, is an artistic genre in which magical elements or illogical scenarios appear in an otherwise realistic or even "normal" setting.

Inspired by this magical story about passion,

I tried to make a necklace with the color of dark chocolate and a passionate red colored corozo rose. Yhese two warm and yummie colors inspired me to make other creations and I feel like making a whole colelction of them....

Creation from chaos

My workspace needs some organising, Paperflowergirl gave me the idea!

But no time to organise, I think I am definitely doomed to have a messy workroom!

Hubby (who is a scientist, and thus thinks like a scientist) has a quote for it: "order from chaos", well , what I think is that this quote just allows him to be messy :-(

From now on, my quote will be: creation from chaos!

So besides all the stuff I have to make jewelry, I have huge piles of papers and selfmade embellishments, and this is what I used to make those cards above:

I will sell them on the next fair I attend , and also in the shop of a lady who asked for it,

Ik heb de kans nog niet gehad om het volgende nieuwtje te melden:

een selectie uit mijn collectie juweeltjes is sinds een tijdje te koop bij Nathalie Engels.

Nathalie Engels is een modeontwerpster die al 10 jaar een eigen collectie op de markt brengt in een prachtige winkel in Onderbergen te Gent.
En het mag gezegd, mijn juweeltjes en haar unieke dames- en meisjescollectie gaan perfect samen. (ze heeft ook een herencollectie, maar voorlopig maak ik nog geen juweeltjes voor heren:-)) De warme kleuren, de textuur, de kleurcombinaties...

"Ik ben opgeleid als keramiste en dat heeft zo zijn gevolgen voor mijn ontwerpen. Ik ben gefascineerd door stoffen waarbij je een structuur, een print of een reliëf voelt als je erover wrijft. Een nieuwe creatie begint bij mij overigens altijd met een stof, niet met een vorm. Bij de meeste ontwerpers is dat omgekeerd. Ik moet eerst verliefd worden op een stof. Ik ga bij mijn stoffenkeuze puur af op mijn gevoel. Mensen zeggen me soms dat mijn kleren Russische of Chinese invloeden vertonen, maar ik laat ze maar zeggen (lacht). Al mijn keuzes komen recht uit de buik."

Tja, eigenlijk moet je zelf eens gaan kijken (en voelen)...
