I finally finished the necklace I was working on, I wanted to make something different then the flowers with piles of felt in this (older) necklace. And this is the result: I think this purple flower necklace already announces spring a little bit :-))

Fan of Life

My last design is an entry for the weekly European Street Challenge of Helisengezer with the theme:
"The Unbearable Lightness of Being" . Funny coincidence: I had already a very lightweight necklace that I gave the name: 'Bearable lightness of being' :-). You can find it here.
So now I go for a more symbolic creation:
I chose for a fan as a symbol for the lightness of life: sometimes we wave our days away without noticing. I love this quote of John Lennon that explains what I mean: Life is what happens while you're busy doing other things...
(ah, well, if you enjoy the 'doing other things' then it worth it!)

one bag in the hand...

Kinderschoenen zijn tegenwoordig behoorlijk duur, en als er elk seizoen vier paar schoenen moeten aangekocht worden dan kan dat behoorlijk oplopen, de solden induiken is dus een handige manier om de uitgaven toch een beetje binnen de perken te houden :-)) . En als mama dan tijdens de kinderschoenenjacht een keitof (supergesoldeerd) vintage tasje (zie hierboven) ontdekt, dan is iedereen gelukkig!
Online vind je ook een enorm aanbod van prachtige tassen aan al dan niet gesoldeerde prijsjes, in het engels heb je ook heel wat meer benamingen voor wat wij een 'sjakosj' of een tas plegen te noemen zoals : clutch, wristlet, bag, tote, slough, purse, ...

Buying shoes for kids is an expensive joke nowadays, especially when you have four kids and when they need new shoes every season!! Sales are a blessing for that! So mummy went with the kids to the shoe shop and found for herself a cute leather vintage bag (for a very petite price) , now everybody happy! :-)))

touch of gold and the the very end of my beloved Coolpix

New earrings in my shop!

Two days before Christmas my camera broke down, my little Coolpix of Nikon, 7 years old, I really liked using it. Repairing it would cost more then buying a new one (weird :-()

Well, at least I have a reason now to buy that Reflex camera with Macro lens.

I took the pics of my last designs with Maia's camera, I am pleased with it, but don't find the sharpness and depth I am seeking for. Nothing els I can do then off to the camera shop!

De gelaarsde kat - de puss in boots

Last saterday I went with my two oldest girls (age 10 & 11) to the sales, we just had to, Meron needed a new winter jacket and Maia has grewn so much lately that all her trousers are too short now. I warned them, if the shops are too crowded, then we would go straight to home and return another day. But it went well, we did not even have to qeue for the fitting rooms and they almost immediatley found what they wanted .

Pff, now they have their skinny jeans and some other hip stuff, it's mummys turn. :-))

A few days before the sales started I bought these gorgeous boots (and they were already 50% off) lucky me :-)

Also done some work for the shop yesterday: I felted new cat-heads, now off to pimp them!!!

Zaterdag met Maia en Meron de solden ingedoken, we konden er niet meer onderuit, Meron had een nieuwe jas nodig en Maia is op heeeel korte tijd wel 8 cm gegroeid!
Ze waren gewaarschuwd, als het écht te druk was, dan maakten we direct rechtsomkeer! Gelukkig was het geen rijtje schuiven aan de pashokjes, alleen even wachten aan de kassa,
pff, nu zijn ze voorzien van de obligate skinny jeans en een ander paar hippe spullen, dus zijn we weer een tijdje zoet!
Aan de kassa gekomen was het van, allez mama, waarom heb jij niks gepast?
Maar dat ga ik op mijn gemak deze week eens doen, als mijn viertal op school zit!
En deze laarsjes had ik net voor de solden (maar toch aan een soldenprijsje) al op de kop getikt!

Gisteravond nog een paar poesjes gevilt (nee niet met een d!), dit maal zit er een lekker gezellige lila kat bij! nu alleen nog pimpen en dan kunnen ze in de shop!

Bearable Lightness of Being

One of my goals of 2009 is to come up with new creations!

I already have some textile jewelry in my shop (like the Silk Diva, which is a real hit) and some more new designs in my head!

My very first new design of 2009 is a piece offor this textile jewelry collection.

The silk Diva was a lightweight piece , but this one is even more and very comfy to wear. I only used felt wool and silk thread. It is fun to make, especially combining shades and colors!

It has already a place in my shop! and more to come... (and I still offer FREE SHIPPING :-)

Lychees and smoked salmon

Alhoewel mijn hoofd vol ideeën zit en mijn vingers kriebelen, kom ik niet toe aan veel nieuws creeëren, t'is vakantie en iedereen is thuis, best gezellig, soms blijven we met z'n allen in onze pijama, tot we plots merken dat het al middag is en er eten moet gemaakt worden.

Ik ben eigenlijk niet zo'n terugblik mens, maar toch wil ik heel eventjes terugkijken naar 2008, het jaar waarin ik veertig werd :-)) De grootste verandering voor mij was de start van mijn online shop en blog! Eindelijk kon ik na 4 jaar 'moederen' terug mijn creativiteit kwijt !! Een 'gewone' job was als mama van 4 kids (waarvan 2 met special needs) eigenlijk niet haalbaar, thuis werken én een online shop is dus het beste wat me kon overkomen!

Ik heb ook heel wat creatieve online vrienden gemaakt, sommigen heel dichtbij (Gent) anderen verspreid over Europa (mijn Street team vrienden) en nog verder... Leuk om met hen lief en leed te delen en vooral dan onze creatieve zieleroerselen :-). Mijn Engels is niet altijd zo perfect, maar we noemen het dan ook Euro-English en verstaan mekaar!

Mijn blog blijft dus in 2009 nog altijd een spiegel van al het creatiefs dat hier in huis gebeurt! En als starter een recept voor een creatief aperitief hapje: (en vooral ook een hapje voor mama's met weinig tijd, heel snel en budgetvriendelijk!)
- lychees uit blik, wat laten uitlekken en een dun sneetje gerookte zalm errond, op een prikkertje en klaar is kees :-) yummie yummie!

Although I have a head full of ideas and itchy fingers , I don't manage to create much lately. It's holiday and the kids are home. Well, I must admit, we have cosy times, we stay in pijamas till noon playing games and hanging around ...

I am not the kind of person to look back a lot, but i do it once for 2008. This is the year I got forty and the most important thing that happended for me was the start of my blog and my Etsy shop. After being mother at home for 4 years (as I stayed home for my little kids), I finally started being creative again. Having 4 kids (two with special needs) doens't makes it easy to have a normal outside job, so an online shop and working at home is perfect for me!!

This year I have met many creative souls online (my Europe Est friends), but also a lot of other creative people from nearby or from all over the world! It's so great to share our creative thoughts and search! And I must say, my Englisf-h is getting better every day :-))

Also in 2009 my blog will stay a dairy of my creative search and thoughts. And I would like to start with sharing a very easy, quick and yummie recipy that you can serve as a starter!

All you need is some lychees and smoked salmon, you lay the lychees in a bowl where they can lose some moisture, then you wrap a piece of salmon around them and you can serve them ! A glass of Cava matches perfect with this !
