Als je wil te weten komen hoe mijn vrijdag er doorgaans uitziet, kijk dan even op Helis blog. Heli nodigde me uit voor haar 'friday is my day' reeks, een hele eer!

Het was heel leuk om zo'n foto-dagboek te maken, (en eigenlijk is het nog maar een fractie van mijn dagje!)

Nog meer waterlelies in mijn shop,

op zoek naar andere lotussen op het net vond ik een handleiding lotus bloemen vouwen (voor creatieve kids en hun mama's).Ik ontdekte ook dat de Lotus symbool staat voor het ontvouwen van het innerlijk potentieel :-)) Zou het toevallig zijn dat mijn lotusblaadjes (spontaan) hartvormig geworden zijn :-) of kijkt Valentijn al om het hoekje :-)

Op Etsy vond ik nog heel wat andere interpretaties van de lotusbloem of waterlelie, waarvan hierboven een kleine selectie. (Klik op de foto om naar de website van de ontwerper te gaan.)

Browsing for other lotus flowers on the web, I found a tutorial for origami lotus flowers here.

The Lotus Flower symbolizes purity and divine birth. out of the mud grows a beautiful flower. The unfolding flower embodies the endless ocean of creation.
Because it has buds, blossoms and seed pods simultaneously on the same plant, it represents the past, present and future.

I stumbled also on this meaning of the lotus: it should be a symbol for the awakening of the inner life: hihi, is that the reason why my lotus leaves look a bit like hearts? Valentine is already peeping!! :-)

Fabiola & De indische waterlelies

This week the Challenge of the EST (hosted by stemmellina) has the theme " your Favorite fairy Tale" (feel free to visit Stemmelina's shop and blog)

I just can not choose only one , a lot of tales are my fav: Snowy White, The cat inboots, Little red hat, Alice in wonderland, little mermaid,... I grew up with the tales of the brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen... I still remember the very first movie of Snowy White made by disney. I was so small, but it have still memories of it, it makes me dream back in the past...

The fact that I chose 'The Indian Waterlilys' (a tale written years ago by the Queen of Belgium : Queen Fabiola), )is a funny coincidence ( I am not really a royalty fan)

I had a ring in my shop in polymer clay, a customer asked me if I could make a brooch in felt with the same colors and form. Playing with the felt and the colors, the fairy tale came in my mind. You can find the whole story of the Indian Waterlilys here.

Deze week is het thema van de Challenge van de European Street Team: "je favoriete sprookje'

Ik vindt het zeer moeilijk om er een favoriet uit te kiezen, ik ben opgegroeid met de verhalen van de gebroeders Grimm, en Hans Christian Andersen , toen waren het al klassiekers, ik hou van de heerlijk ouderwetse exemplaren en liever niet de Disney versies! Ik herinner me bijvoorbeeld nog (ik moet 5 jaar geweest zijn) dat ik met moeke en vake naar de eerste echte sneeuwwitje film ben gaan kijken (in de cinema), een ongelofelijke ervaring in die tijd (ook voor mijn ouders!) goh, ik wordt er toch een beetje emotioneel van!

Maar ik koos dus voor een sprookje van ons aller Koningin Fabiola. In lang vervlogen tijden pleegde hare Koningklijke hoogheid nog verhaaltjes te schrijven. De indische Waterlelies is het bekendste , waarschijnlijk ook omdat dit verbeeld wordt in de Efteling.
Ik ben niet echt een koningshuis fan. Het feit dat ik voor dit sprookje koos is eigenlijk een beetje toevallig. Ik heb een waterlelie ring (in polymeer klei) in mijn shop en ik kreeg vorige week de vraag van iemand of ik de vorm van de ring niet kon gebruiken voor een broche in vilt.
Terwijl ik de waterlelies aan het vilten was, dwaalden mijn gedachten af naar de waterlelies uit de efteling. en voila, mijn Challenge creatie was geboren!
