new live for old stuff

deze dames doen leuke dingen met oude spullen...

Noordt is opgericht door Kathleen Opdenacker en Marietje De Koster, die al jaren in de wijk Antwerpen-Noord wonen, een oude volksbuurt waar meer dan 130 nationaliteiten naast elkaar wonen. Met hun creaties blazen ze nieuw leven in oude spullen.
Net zo geloven ze dat dit met hun buurt gebeurt als er maar genoeg mensen geloven in het potentieel. De buurt heeft veel te bieden: in de talrijke stoffenwinkels, falinghallen en veilinghuizen vinden ze de grondstoffen voor hun project. Aan de basis van ieder ontwerp ligt steeds een vondst en dan volgt de rest bijna vanzelf.

The past week
has been filled with lots of work
preparing for the fairs...

some of the things
I have been working on
is my Frida collection (you can find some other designs in this series here)

I mostly use the following materials in this series
- red handmade roses
- turquoise stones
- small ebony wooden beads
- vintage japanese petites glass stones
- coral stones
- the sterling silver findings have been oxidized, which gives a matte black effect.

but I also was in a black and red mood,
the past days...
has it something to do with Halloween? ;-)
