Flickr Favs and my happy bunch of kids

Ok, I found my energy back, (maybe it has to do with the beautiful weather this morning and after a refreshing bikeride to school with my kids) I can only hope it lasts... :-)

Quite a happy Mosaic, maybe I was still in the happy mood of last sunday, the pictures show how much fun we had with the kids at the playground. And I can tell you I am so happy to see how my eldest kids are helping my little one who is a bit disabled. That is the spirit!

The last days there is a lot of commotion in Belgium concerning the following theme:
'do kids with Down Syndrome have the right to attend a regular public school'
I say YES! Kids with Downsyndrome live in a 'normal' family too, so why can't they go to 'normal' schools then. Lots of opinions are based on prejudices!
I think government should give more facilities to teachers with a kid with Down in their class. !

Wonderful photos! I hope the school issue straightens itself out. People can be very silly to make blanket ideas about situations.

Great photos of your beautiful children! I agree with you of course on the school issue, why should any child be separated? Why should it even be an issue?

I agree that special children should be treated equal like as other kids. Probably is the government's concern to promote very special education for them, but otherwise in my opinion, children are all equal human beings and should be treated with fairness. I have a relative with the same condition, and she adores us alot, and I must say her heart is bigger than anyone's I ever seen.
Beautiful children, and I love the way you capture all their smiles!

Dear Fleurfatale,
I totally agree with you! There should be no separation between children...Unfortunately here in Italy there was a strong cut to public funds for "supporting" teachers in classes with "special" kids and this is causing many problems.....
I also agree with eihan about you: since I have been reading your blog I think that you are a strong, sensitive and clever woman.....sorry for my english ciao

oh Fleur; I thought we had that discussion already long behind us.... I remember my mother fighting for it in the sixties ! Can you believe it ?
I think there will always be these conservative waves in a ppulation, mainly based on anxiety for the unknown. Not that this helps you in any way ..... Sterkte !

My sister works as a Teaching Assistant for disabled children, in a school where all the children are mixed, and she's there to help with activities or will take kids out of class when they need extra support. She loves it! it's definitely the way forward x

I totally agree with you Greet!
Can´t believe they are even considering that possibility...

Oh and very pretty mosaic!

I thought it was something common to have " mixed ¨ schools (I don't know how they are called in English). I come from Argentina and it is highly encouraged that children with Down Syndrome join school at whatever level they might need. It's good for everyone.
The "normal" label is quite a horrible one, isn't it?

Many pictures of happy kids, that is what I like to see!

Beautiful mosaic! I love head over heels! :)
I too agree that kids with Down syndrom should be able to go to regular schools. If the schools get more help (extra teachers) it would make it all a whole lot easier!
So sad that we're even discussing this! :(

What a beautiful mosaic!!
Your kids are super sweet!
Here in Italy there is a special teacher who helps the children with little problems, and they are mixed with the other.

In the US we have rules that require each child be educated in the 'least restricted environment.' That means that they spend most of their time in regular classrooms, but get special help in the areas they need it. Everyone has the right to the best education possible. Here is my rule -- Fair is when everyone gets what they need to succeed; not everyone gets the same treatment. Good luck.

I know I keep saying the same thing...but your kids are all so cuuuuute. And your son looks so much like you in that first photo on the slide!
"Handicaped" people are the last issue on the list when it comes to our goverment I think :/
