Time flies
gosh,
where have all those years gone
she is 12 now
heading for secundary school
where is the time
mum and dad
were the most important persons in her life
her friends have taken a bit of that place now
letting go
it's growing...
it's part of life...
oh yes
I go through emotional days
(and so does my teenager :-)

Magic baking pearls
a few days ago,
artmind
surprised me
with her magic baking pearls!
the picture
above
proves it
(baking pearls can be used for blind baking. When you use puff pastry for a pie, it's best to pre-bake the dough beforehand. You just place a baking sheet on top of the pastry and then add weight to it.)
these pearls are very usefull!
but I realise
I forgot the baking sheet! :-)

A pie a week
mmmmm,
I really love this pie,
and what's more,
my kids too,
and that is the most important,
because
believe me,
cooking for (my)kids
is not easy!
Pie with leak and North Sea Shrimps (taart met prei en noordzeegarnalen)
you need:
premade french puff pastry
250 gr of Belgian Nord Sea shrimps
300 gr young leak
25 ml cream
150 gr emmenthal cheese
2 a 3 eggs
2 spoonfulls of mais (thickening) flour
pepper & salt
chop the leak to pieces and bake it a bit of olive oil.
Prebake your dough for 15 minutes in an oven of 120°
Make a mixture of the cheese, the eggs, cream and shrimps and baked leak
pour this mixture on the prebaked dough.
and bake the pie in an ove of 180° for half an hour!
Find my other pie receipes here.

Nostalgia
amazing find at the thriftshop!
cute little books
from Maya de Bij...
hm
makes me sentimental and nostalgic
childhood memories pop up....
so I took my scissors
cutted perfect rounds
measured them into silver plated medaillons
covered them with a strong resin
and pimped them with flowers(what else for a bee?)
result:
4 very sweet long Maya necklaces
and now available at Earthlings!
limited edition, that is for sure!

canvas art
I am very curious what my Amsterdam based friend Dana will do with her canvasses.

Etsy birthday craft party at Mitsy's!
How Etsy makes me do things I never did before in my life:
- I went to Hasselt
- I worked with porcelain paper clay
- I ate salmon lasagna with 'raapjes'
- I ate bonbons especially made for the wedding of the Swedish Royal Wedding
- I ate muffins with raspberries that I saw on Facebook the day before!
- I toasted with a glass of 'Groot Geluk'
- I slept on the train
and all this
in the good company of these sweet ladies:
Kim, Ina, Marianna, Mitsy, Veerle, Nicole and Annemiek
See you next year at the craft party in Ghent, girls!
(and to give this day a perfect finish,
Mitsy (and Martha) prepared a gift bag for us all, but that is for another blogpost!

Button fever
it seems like buttons are totally in!!!
Find out more here.
(thanks for letting
me know Szusza!)
and what about these cute button earstuds ( +:- 1 cm diameter)
available at Earthlings! (Belgische Eco sieraden webshop)
My creative workspace
oooh, I love buttons!
I bought this cute button tote, back in A'dam, scandalously cheap!
but hey, good for my wallet!
and while I was diving in my buttons
to prepare
for the craft party at Mitsy's
I made these matches:
They make cool necklaces :-)
but well
Who , besides myself, dares wearing buttons round her neck?
